ABOUT SEAN VENTRESS

I’ve always had a natural curiosity for machinery and understanding how things work. As a child, I loved taking things apart and putting them back together. It all started playing with Lego and pretty quickly progressed into engines and mechanisms as I got older! It didn’t really dawn on me until later during my degree course that I could combine my love of art, design, an aptitude for physics and making things together into a Mechanical Engineering career and it was when I joined Dyson I realised my potential! Today, I’m a seasoned engineering leader with over 20 years’ experience delivering cutting-edge consumer technology and FMCG cosmetics, most recently as a Senior Engineering Manager at Dyson. I’ve led multidisciplinary teams to launch globally successful products, drive innovation pipelines, and scale production across international sites. I enjoy a new challenge, especially in a leadership role within advanced hardware, Product integration, Design for Manufacturing or sustainability-focused industries.One of the things that I pride myself with is the fact that I work on the cutting edge of each project and interact with all sides of the business. I’ve had great experiences, notably living in South East Asia to work within Dyson’s manufacturing support sites. Some of Dyson’s most impactful new categories such as Environmental Care, Haircare, and Robotic Vacuum Cleaners, I have been fortunate enough to be there from the start.Specialities: Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, Design for Manufacturing, FMCG, JDM & ODM development, polymers, metallics, composites, structural analysis, mechanical design, hardware integration, engineering systems, people development, management, mentorship.
