ABOUT SEAN D MC KENNA

As an experienced Passive House Consultant and Innovation Manager, I am dedicated to advancing sustainable construction and supporting business growth in the Fermanagh & Tyrone regions and beyond. My role at South West College, coupled with strategic collaborations with Invest NI, the Department for the Economy, InterTradeIreland, and Enterprise Ireland, allows me to provide comprehensive support to businesses seeking to innovate and thrive. I hold a Master\'s degree in Architecture from the University of Limerick and a postgraduate qualification in Business from Queen\'s University Belfast. My academic background is complemented by practical experience as a qualified Passive House Designer and Consultant, where I leverage my expertise to promote energy-efficient building practices. In my capacity as an Innovation Manager, I work closely with businesses to identify opportunities for growth and development, offering guidance and support through funded initiatives. My efforts focus on fostering innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation, particularly within the craft manufacturing and construction industries. I am passionate about integrating digital design and fabrication technologies, including 3D printing, to enhance these sectors. Beyond my professional endeavors, I have a creative side that I express through designing custom jewelry and sculpture. My work has been showcased at prestigious events such as Dutch Design Week 2022, where I exhibited a collaborative sculpture with a team of Irish artists. I am also deeply involved in research, particularly in the field of mushroom-based biomaterials. My innovative work in this area earned me an Exemplar award from InterTradeIreland, which inspired me to establish Mush Mór, a company dedicated to exploring the potential of exotic mushrooms and biomaterials.
