D. Scott Copeland, P.E. is Director on the International Space Station (ISS) and co-founder and project manager for the Boeing Genes in Space molecular biology competition. Copeland has more than 38 years of payload integration and hardware development experience supporting multiple NASA programs. Prior to this role, he was the senior manager for the Mission Integration team including, Safety, Payload Integration Management, and Mission Management. He was the Manager of the External Carriers & Rapid Response Hardware Integration office developing Flight Support Equipment (FSE) for transporting spare Orbital Replacement Units (ORUs) to the ISS via the Space Shuttle. Prior to joining Boeing he spent fourteen years at Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, AL working on the NASA SPACELAB program in various positions including project management of three Spacelab Missions.
