ABOUT SCOTT ALLARD

I\'m an experienced technology manager and architect with a demonstrated history designing, implementing, and operating technology solutions, mostly within the healthcare IT space, I\'m currently running a team of Site Reliability Engineers for a network observability company. At the core, I\'m a technology generalist. I\'ve got experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, software development and architecture, systems adminstration, automation, observability, and data management. I\'ve developed solutions ranging from simple scripts used as servicing tools, diagnostics/reporting systems for medical devices, to data transmission and processing solutions (IoT), and lots of stuff in between. If I\'ve got a specialty, it\'s probably observability. I\'m a huge believer in the power and importance of observability, both from operational and engineering/product management perspectives. Much of my work in the last decade has been focused on building strategies, technologies, and operations around observability of systems, whether deployed to customer premise, or running on our down data centers or in the cloud. From instrumentation, through to transport, storage, and presentation, gathering meaningful data from systems and moving it through an observability pipeline is something I\'m fascinated by and will talk about endlessly, if given the chance.I also have an aptitude for technology strategy, with a focus on identifying problems and then implementing solutions that both drive and support the business. These solutions will range from in-house/home brewed to open source, and commercial. I\'ve developed and applied strategies related to the efficiency of our support and services teams, data management and integrity, employee engagement, and several areas in between.Being a leader is something I take seriously. At a certain point in my career, my technical ambitions exceeded my capacity as an individual contributor, and I knew that the only way to achieve what I wanted to was to bring people in to help. This has led me to understand the importance of leadership, getting people invested in our work, developing and building teams, and ensuring that the employer/employee relationship is one that benefits both parties.Although my experience lends itself to development and technology operations, I\'m happiest when I\'m doing something I\'ve never done before. Implementing or learning a new technology, solving a new problem, or even just spending some time with a whiteboard trying to make things better, these are the things that get me really excited.
