ABOUT SANDRA MANNILA
I am a visual artist turned Front End Developer. I am passionate and dedicated to building accessibility into the development and design process, and – ultimately – the product. In all aspects of my life I apply an intersectional, Indigenous, and queer approach. I currently live and work within the traditional territories of many First Nations and Metis peoples of Moh’kinstsis, commonly known as Calgary, Alberta. Moh’kinstsis is the Blackfoot name for this place, and translates to “elbow” in reference to the Elbow River, which runs through the city. Moh’kinstsis is the traditional territory of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy in English) which includes the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, and Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations, the people of Treaty 7 region, and home to the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3.
