My job duties consist mainly of performing chemical analysis on samples to assist the various departments with their analytical needs, such as Failure Analysis, Method Development, R&D Support, and Deformulations. I also help various research groups with their development of coating systems by providing chemical analysis of experimental systems to monitor changes chemically and physically over time. This involves using instrumentation such as GPC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, FT-IR, TGA, DSC, Microscopy, Karl Fischer, among others. These projects often require additional research, obtained from various sources. I write the reports associated with the analysis and maintain the various instrumentation. I help discuss issues the various departments have concerning their samples with their group leaders to help identify the cause of any issues and how to help avoid them going forward, acting as a point of contact for projects.I was appointed to the Global 5S team and as the 5S Facilitator for the Troy location. I work with members of the global team to synchronize 5S within AkzoNobel VR. As the 5S Facilitator, I head the 5S program at Troy. This includes creating the 5S standards, organizing team meetings, performing audits, and assisting all groups with their 5S needs.I\'m also a member of the Equipment Committee, helping maintain the equipment at the facility and ensuring everything is verified and calibrated on schedule. I was part of the Behavior Based Safety [BBS] team. The BBS team helps ensure the facility and the staff are following safe work practices. I have completed a temporary leadership role in a small local team. The goal of this group was to determine the best practices on site for cross-training and to synchronize R&D processes.
