ABOUT SAMUEL FRIMPONG

Until I turned 5, I had never seen a fluorescent bulb or experienced consistent power supply. At 5, my family moved from a small village in Ghana\'s hinterlands to the capital city. Even in the capital, we adjusted to twelve-hour power outages every other day. I was accustomed to spending entire evenings under candle light, but my claustrophobic younger sister would cry nightly once the power went out. Today, I hope to find a solution to the problem of erratic power outages in my motherland. I am driven to finally put an end to this predicament, so that high school students do not have to lose precious nights of research and study like I did. My goal has inspired me to nurture my love for android and web programming. I am excited about how the websites, applications and robots I build improve users\' quality of life. Yet I am not your everyday computer nerd. I am a well-rounded Electrical engineer with knowledge of history, psychology, literature, biology and economics, for I believe a multidisciplinary approach to engineering will enable me to understand society\'s needs, and to model software and hardware solutions that address these needs. Every idea counts. Thus, for me, learning from different people is an imperative. I look forward to brainstorming across cultures and disciplines as we collectively attempt to make the world a better place.
