ABOUT SAM SPERLING
As both a student-athlete and Sports Media Intern for the Illinois College Athletics Department, I bridge the worlds of athletics and creative storytelling through graphic design, photography, and videography. In my internship, I design digital assets for social media, direct and edit multimedia content, and help craft the visual identity of Blueboy and Lady Blue athletics across digital platforms. I’m passionate about using design to elevate the athlete experience, build community engagement, and communicate the emotion behind competition.Creatively, I focus my work on capturing raw, authentic emotions and memorable moments to both visually and audibly communicate the intangible thrill that athletes get during competition. I’m continually developing my skills in Adobe Creative Suite and analyzing the work of current professionals in the industry to prepare for a career with a collegiate or professional sports organization.
