ABOUT SAKURA CHEN

Sakura is currently employed as a Digital Marketing Specialist at the Association for Psychological Science (APS). Prior to joining APS, Sakura had multiple experiences working in hospitals and non-profit organizations. She specialized in effectively communicating health-related information to diverse audiences through strategic social media campaigns in her prior professional roles within esteemed institutions like Mass General Hospital, the American Psychiatric Association, the Children’s National Hospital, and the Planetary Health Alliance. Sakura’s responsibilities encompassed editing monthly publication spotlights and newsletters and overseeing social media management and content creation initiatives. She is passionate about leveraging her skills to make a positive impact in the healthcare and non-profit sectors, utilizing her knowledge and plain language to explain medical jargon to groups with low health literacy or non-English speaking skills. With that being mentioned, Sakura is proficient in Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese besides English.Beyond that, Sakura has been a contract part-time debate (public forum) and speech (original oratory and extemporaneous speaking) coach at the WeSchool Debate and Speech Association (formerly known as the National Speech and Debate Association China Office) since 2019. Sakura holds a Master of Arts in Health Communication and Public & Media Relations from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Rhetoric and Health Science from Northeastern University (Boston).
