Situation (S):Molina Healthcare was modernizing its patient mobile apps (iOS/Android) to support telehealth, secure messaging, lab reports, and integration with Bluetooth-enabled health devices. As these apps were considered SaMD (Software as a Medical Device), the testing framework had to comply with FDA, HIPAA, and IEC 62304 regulations while ensuring scalability and cross-platform coverage.Task (T):I was responsible for architecting the mobile test automation strategy, leading offshore/onshore QA teams, and ensuring robust automation coverage across UI, API, and device integration layers. The objective was to deliver faster regression cycles, validate compliance, and support continuous delivery in a highly regulated healthcare domain.Action (A):Architected and developed a cross-platform automation framework using Appium, Selenium, Playwright, and TestNG in Java (10+ yrs exp), covering Android/iOS apps.Designed and executed API automation with RestAssured and implemented performance/load testing with JMeter.Automated BLE connectivity scenarios (pairing, OTA firmware updates, health device sync).Built and maintained test agents and CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and Azure DevOps, troubleshooting build failures.Applied embedded system validation by testing firmware updates and device integrations in real-world conditions.Collaborated with developers/DevOps to debug issues using logs and monitoring tools.Delivered Power BI dashboards for leadership to track coverage, defects, and release readiness.Created SIT and formal verification packs for SaMD with full traceability to user stories, risk items, and compliance requirements.Led offshore QA team, mentoring engineers, reviewing code, and ensuring coding standards.Result (R):Reduced regression cycle time by 45% through scalable automation.Improved test reliability and reduced flaky cases by 30%, accelerating release readiness.Achieved 100% compliance with FDA and HIPAA audit requirements.
