As a Fulbright English Teaching Fellow in rural southern Taiwan, I work in elementary schools serving Indigenous and rural communities, supporting English education and cultural exchange through classroom teaching and community engagement.I design and deliver interactive English and cultural lessons for Grades 3–6, adapting national curriculum materials to match students’ proficiency levels while prioritizing oral communication, confidence-building, and student participation. I collaborate closely with local English teachers in co-teaching environments, contributing pronunciation practice, speaking activities, and culturally relevant content that complements textbook-based instruction.Beyond the classroom, I actively engage with the local community, participating in school events, sports, cultural activities, and Indigenous community gatherings, to strengthen relationships and support Fulbright’s mission of mutual understanding and people-to-people exchange. This role has deepened my ability to work cross-culturally, adapt quickly in dynamic foreign settings, and teach with intentionality and respect for local voices.
