In my role as Global D&I Leader for the Native & Indigenous Peoples Community, and Compliance Officer not only for IBM Canada, but also for AODA, AMA, and as a Federal contractor for the Province of Quebec, I help ensure that the workplace adheres to its mandate of elevating diverse voices and supporting employment equity for all under-represented minorities and marginalized groups My background is diverse, but my values have been consistent. Since 2007, I have been the Civilian Co-Chair of the Toronto Police Service Chief’s Muslim Consultative Committee and I serve as Board Member of the Ansaar Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. I am also an IBM Certified Facilitator, Virtual Collaborator, Neuro-diversity Ally, LGBT+ Ally Championship Practitioner and Blue Core Coach. I have worked with business leaders, peers and employee groups, and am an experienced public speaker, diversity and inclusion strategist and education/training leader. I’ve been working for decades with Indigenous community and I am motivated to create connections and work within the Truth and Reconciliation framework.

Imagine a workplace where every employee, from senior manager to entry-level newcomer, feels uplifted and empowered. As such, my priority is to further increase the retention, advancement and promotion of people from under-represented minorities (URMs). Accomplishing this takes diligent and concerted efforts in creating opportunities for career advancement. STEM pipeline creation. Allyship. Strategic planning. Training. Team leadership. I’m passionate about bringing these and other tools to the table. It’s crucial that we, as a society, understand the issues facing underserved people. With decades of experience working with Indigenous communities and other under-served communities, I know that to understand the needs of marginalized people we must listen and learn. I rely on the strength of my own intersectionalities to build relationships and empower others. I live my life as an ally for all gender, race, neuro-diversities, ages and ethnicities. Helping IBMers and people embrace their true selves in an environment of respect and support is my calling.
