ABOUT RUAIDHRI FARRELL

I am a Director in Yendall Hunter’s Construction Disputes and Advisory Practice, a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators, and have over 14 years of experience in the engineering and construction industries. I specialise in providing independent expert advice on delay and disruption matters prior to, or as part of, litigation and arbitration proceedings. I have supported my clients through this process in forums such as the UK Technology and Construction Court (TCC) and various arbitral institutions (including the ICC, LCIA and DIAC) across both civil and common law jurisdictions. I have experience across a range of projects including railways, roads, airports, biomass power plants, hotels, high-rise, residential and mixed-use developments, cable laying vessels, submarines, jack-up oil rigs, and oil and gas facilities, amongst others. Before transitioning into the construction disputes advisory sector, I spent one year as a graduate geotechnical design engineer, after which I spent four years with Laing O\'Rourke, a contractor, delivering large and complex infrastructure projects. After that I moved into an advisory role with PWC where I supported clients with the delivery of large-scale programmes through cost, baseline and schedule reviews. In recent years, I completed an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at Kings College London, for which I was awarded a distinction. I have been awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge for my research into the effects of tunnelling on overlying structures. I also lecture on delay and disruption issues at Trinity College Dublin.
