ABOUT RAFAL ROHOZINSKI
For over three decades, I have advised governments, corporations, and international organizations, including the World Bank and United Nations, on adapting to the generational changes brought on by the digital revolution. My work has spanned all aspects of this transformation, from building the internet in Eurasia, Africa, and Asia early in my career to directing Advanced Research programs at the University of Cambridge. I have also founded three companies: Psiphon - an award-winning firm providing censorship-free internet access in countries like China and Iran; Zeropoint - a cybersecurity company; and SecDev - a next-generation AI-powered consultancy specializing in geopolitical digital risk.I am deeply passionate about giving back and paying it forward. I co-founded the SecDev Foundation to leverage the experience gained in the corporate and government sectors to protect those most at risk and vulnerable to cyber threats in places like Syria, Myanmar, and Eurasia. As an active keynote speaker, I am always eager to share what I\'ve learned with receptive audiences.Throughout my career, I have received multiple fellowships and scholarships from organizations such as the Ford Foundation, Social Sciences Humanities Research Council (US), International Development Research Centre, International Institute for Strategic Studies, and the Centre for International Governance Innovation. In the I co-founded the Information Warfare Monitor (IWM) and the OpenNet Initiative (ONI) and co-authored the GhostNet report, which unveiled the first state-sponsored cyber-espionage network and gained significant attention on the cover of the New York Times. Additionally, I was an editor and author of a three-volume study published by MIT Press, which documented how countries worldwide are adapting their policies and practices to the new realities of the digital age.Currently, I am intensely focused on the potential and practical applications of artificial intelligence for modeling risk and opportunity, with two stealth projects in the works.
