Provides professional adjudication of Social Security Administration disability claims. Required to be aware of different case types including claimants who may or may not be already receiving disability benefits. Completed around 400 cases each year while using various resources and implementing policies provided by SSA and agency provided business practices. Dispense information of the disability process to the claimants depending on their individual case type and inform them of what is needed for a fair and just conclusion to their disability claim. Cultivated a medical knowledge and using that information during investigations when speaking to claimants about how they handle their condition on a day-to-day basis. That gathered information will also help assist my investigation on the vocational side to determine if the claimant is able to perform past work or continue to perform basic work activities. Developed relationships with medical and vocational specialist to examine complex diagnosis and assist in my investigations of various claims. Research medical and vocational issues using written policy and instructional material or consults medical, vocational, or other specialists concerning specific issues of the claim. Determines eligibility for disability benefits. Prepares formal determination including completion of numerous forms and an explanation of the final determination. Incorporates new material and updates knowledge of program standards because of reading, feedback, and training.
