Full Stack developer, although these days mostly concentrating on Front End (specifically React). I enjoy all aspects of coding, and have a natural curiosity about all sorts of languages and technologies, enjoying a \"deep dive\" into how things really work. I think it\'s critical to understand properly how things work, and not just google and tinker about with code until it seems to do what you want.Although I am very much a developer not a designer, in everything I develop for the front end I try to focus on usability. I am particularly passionate about accessibility - ensuring interfaces don\'t just work for users who can see the screen perfectly and use a mouse, but also for screenreader users and those who rely on the keyboard to interact with a page. It\'s not something I\'m expert in and there\'s always more to learn, but I am always trying to learn more (I am helped in this by many amazing colleagues at Sage, who will know who they are if they read this!).In terms of day-to-day development I am passionate about keeping code clean and maintainable. I also have some very strong and possibly controversial views about various aspects of software development, which I briefly list here (deliberately stated provocatively, but I will seriously defend each of these if you ask me to!)- static typing is much better than dynamic (but I can still work with dynamically typed languages if I need to, and indeed the languages I know best are mostly dynamic!)- despite its ludicrously weak typing and various other random corners, Javascript is a pretty decent language, and much better put together at its core than many people think.(But yes, Typescript is better.)- PHP is utter garbage and really needs to die a death.(Clearly it never will due to all the many huge legacy projects using it, but it beggars belief that so many companies still want to build new applications with it.)- functional programming is the only sensible way to structure large programs. Object Oriented programming is baffling and causes far more problems than it solves - like PHP, it really should be obsolete but refuses to die- my favourite language by far, despite me not knowing it *that* well, is Haskell. I am also fond of Rust. I would also love to work with Purescript (a language modelled on Haskell and that compiles to Javascript) on the frontend.
