ABOUT ROBERT PEAKE
I am an IP litigator, English solicitor and bilingual qualified Canadian lawyer. My practice covers the protection and enforcement of the full range of intellectual property rights. Over the past 15 years, I have acted for clients at all levels of the English courts including the UK Supreme Court, as well as the Ontario Superior Court, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. My advisory work includes drafting and advising on a range of commercial agreements including licenses, assignments, manufacturing agreements, technology development agreements, and NDAs and confidentiality agreements. In my regulatory practice, I advise on compliance matters across data protection and privacy, online safety, and the use of AI. I help clients to establish and maintain data protection compliance programs, including businesses operating internationally with particular regard to international data transfer issues. In contentious matters, I act for clients in regulatory investigations, data breaches, law enforcement data requests, FOIA requests and DSARs. I hold a CIPP/E certification from the IAPP. I have a particular interest in emerging issues at the intersection of law and technology, having written and presented on topics including Artificial Intelligence and automated decision making, 3D printing, injunctive relief against Internet intermediaries, and the enforcement of intellectual property rights online. I have degrees in common law and civil law from the University of Ottawa, and an LLM in Media, Communications and Technology law from the London School of Economics, where I have returned as a guest lecturer and panellist for the Cyberlaw LLM programme. I am fully bilingual and practice in English and in French.
