ABOUT RITU TOKAS

With an inter-disciplinary training, cross-sectoral experience and systemic perspective, I am passionate about eliminating structural inequities by working on large-scale initiatives, governance reforms, community engagement and partnerships for development using grassroot insights. My career has spanned roles in education, governance, and public policy, where I have designed, implemented, and evaluated programs with a focus on creating lasting change. Having led transformative initiatives in India, including a multi-year systemic reform program and a state-wide school transformation project, I am now excited to apply my expertise in the Canadian context. Currently, I am working on the Advanced Leadership Program at Newcomer Women\'s Services Toronto, where we empower immigrants and newcomer women to overcome systemic barriers and advance their careers. Throughout my career, I have cultivated a deep commitment to social justice, evidenced by my volunteer work with organizations such as the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the Malala Fund, and the Canadian Red Cross. As a \'Young Changemaker\' in the 2023 Learning Journey into Leadership Program, I contributed to supporting Delhi\'s Child Well-Being Centers, aiding in the rehabilitation of homeless children. I am eager to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations working towards a more equitable future. Let\'s collaborate to create lasting positive change.
