After completing a secondment as a Commercial Relationship Manager specialising in Property, I transitioned into my current role as a Business Relationship Associate. While the Auckland property market remains subdued and no permanent opportunities were available in property banking, this career move has allowed me to broaden my expertise and step into an exciting new chapter in business banking.With ANZ’s integration of Business and Commercial Banking into a single stream, I now manage a diverse portfolio spanning both property investment clients and trading businesses across industries such as aged care, healthcare, medical centres, exporters, and seafood wholesalers. This role enables me to apply my relationship management and credit skills in a wider context, providing tailored financial solutions, supporting business growth, and strengthening ANZ’s position as a trusted partner for New Zealand businesses.

ABOUT RICK CHEN
I first came to New Zealand over 24 years ago and have built a diverse career spanning hospitality, banking, property, and business. After completing my first degree in Hospitality Management in 2004, I worked across various roles in the hospitality industry until 2008. Seeking new challenges, I pursued further study and completed a second degree in Marketing and Business Management in 2011.That same year, I began my financial services career with ASB Bank as a Personal Banker, while also completing a Postgraduate qualification in Finance and Economics at Massey University. In 2014, I joined ANZ, where I have since worked in a variety of Business and Commercial Banking roles—helping clients across property investment and a wide range of industries achieve their goals through tailored financial solutions.Alongside my banking career, I hold certifications in Residential Property Management (2013) and Methamphetamine Screening (2020), and have hands-on experience in property renovation and project management.Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor walks, DIY projects, and cooking, which bring balance and creativity to my life.
