ABOUT RICHARD WILLIAMS
I advise government and business leaders on strategic economic and fiscal policy questions with twenty years focused on designing and implementing reforms that improve outcomes for citizens and businesses across the globe. I\'m currently Director at PwC UK advising Middle East governments at a time of enormous and far reaching economic and fiscal transformation. I\'m passionate about projects that will help the region achieve financial sustainability, global competitiveness and continued economic success, and I have expertise in advising on policy design, costings, economic analysis, international reform and fiscal sustainability. As head of HM Treasury’s Strategy, Planning and Budget Team, I oversaw preparation of six Budgets and other fiscal events advising the Chancellor on over £35bn of tax reforms. It\'s one of the great jobs in the government and I loved the challenge of developing deliverable policies informed by analysis and expertise from across Whitehall. Outside of tax policy, I have experience in brokering agreements within international institutions, having worked at Ireland’s Department of Finance while they held the Presidency of the European Council and had two years working directly for Treasury Ministers through the Global Financial Crisis. I have a first class degree in Mathematics and Philosophy and a PhD in Mathematical Logic.
