ABOUT RENAN HIDEKI SEGUCHI

Currently, I am an exchange student from Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf (HSWT) in the first semester enrolled in Management of Renewable Energies. At my home University, The Federal University of Itajubá (Unifei), I am starting my 9th period of 10 semesters in Bioprocess Engineering graduation which encourages students to participate in scientific, competition and cultural extension projects. When I was studying in Brazil, I had an opportunity to participate in a lot of the projects, the first one was the Project Drum Cultural Support DANADA, there understood the importance of finance area and I have been trained to manage the inputs and outputs of the project, as well as the control of funds and accountability for the amount invested. With the knowledge of finances and good grades I had an opportunity to participate in one of the projects financed by CNPq Institution, the research governmental institution from Brazil. The theme of this research was: Union process between wastewater treatment and caption of bioenergy in bioreactor. With the financial assistance of this institution, I was able to enroll in an English course, which helped me to improve my research, as I could understand more information about the situation in my home country. A statistic that made an impression on me was the fact that 39,4% of the municipalities do not have basic sanitation, according to the Geography and Statistic Institution from Brazil (IBGE) in 2020. Therefore, with the same desire to develop the quality of life for people, I entered the ENACTUS Unifei Itajubá project with the goal to propose one viable and cheap solution to solve this problem in a local community. Participating in these other two projects developed many skills, for example: leadership spirit, teamwork, data analysis and management risks. Unfortunately, because of the sanitation and hygiene world crisis caused by SARS-CoV-2 I could not finish my scientific research. However, because of my passion in scientific research, my desire to further develop my skills, and the necessity to boost my professional career, I decided to apply to the Exchange Program in HSWT, learned about Lean Six Sigma and I wrote one article last semester, with to colleagues about “Enzymes application in animals feed commercialized in Brazil” that it will be presented in the Brazilian Congress. To have the financial means to support my stay in Germany, I did an internship in one Startup company, called Autoponia. They build automatic nutrient injection and monitoring systems for hydroponics.
