As a magnet for innovation in advanced manufacturing, the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) group of specialist R&D centres, supports manufacturing, engineering and associated tech businesses of all sizes, to thrive domestically and internationally through accelerating productivity, embracing new digital technologies and achieving net-zero targets.I am an experienced leader of manufacturing innovation. I am a Chartered Engineer with 23 years of experience within the design, manufacturing and industrial research fields. This includes five years of experience within the automotive manufacturing supply chain and over eighteen years working in industrially focused engineering research. My early career experience working in the automotive industry in Glasgow provided me with a solid foundation of engineering practice but also starkly highlighted how tough it is to be a business in the manufacturing supply chain and particularly in the face of global competition. This experience filled me with a passion to contribute to the resurgence of manufacturing in the UK and a corresponding determination to support NMIS in its mission to support this resurgence in Scotland.
