I was born with limited use of my left arm from a complication at birth. At the age of three, I faced my first hurdle in sport; swimming in a straight line with one arm. By the age of 11, I was competing at national championships and at age 15 I was selected to swim for Great Britain. I competed in the 2006 IPC Swimming World Championships, winning a bronze and silver medal and the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games finishing 5th and 7th. Unfortunately, following the Beijing Games, I was forced to retire due to injury. However, this did not stop my passion for sports, hard work and living life to the full.I learned many attributes from swimming which I believe are not too dissimilar to those required to be successful in the workplace. With this philosophy, I motivate others, not only to achieve in sport but to share how important such attributes like teamwork and self-belief are. I speak at corporate and private functions, as well as in sporting environments and schools.Swimming Achievements• 2010- Retired from swimming due to injury• 2009- Paralympics World Cup, Manchester, 100m Backstroke- Bronze medal • 2008- Paralympic Games, Beijing- 100m Backstroke Final- 5th (PB time)- 100m Butterfly Final- 7th (PB time)• 2007- Paralympics World Cup, Manchester, 100m Butterfly- Silver medal• 2006- IPC World Championships, Durban- 400m Individual Medley Relay – Silver medal- 100m Butterfly- Bronze medal- European Record time - 50m freestyle- 5th - 100m Backstroke- 5th • 2006- World Record Holder 200m Butterfly- World Record Holder 200m Individual Medley- World Record Holder 100m Butterfly (short course)• 2005- Commonwealth Games Trials 50m Free Finalist• 2004- World Short Course Record 50m Butterfly• 2002- European Record Holder 100m Butterfly• 2002, 2003, 2004 - National Junior Sports Achiever Award• - National Short Course Champion
