I am the Academic Lead for the Curriculum Development & Excellence hub in the University of Dundee’s Education Academy. This means I devise and manage excellence frameworks across the university’s entire teaching portfolio. In this leadership role I work with the university’s Director of Quality & Academic Standards, a steering group formed of members from across the university, and multiple project working groups.

ABOUT DANIEL COOK
Professor Daniel Cook (BA MA PhD PGCHE FHEA FRHistS FEA) holds a Personal Chair in English and Scottish Literature and is the Associate Dean of Education and Student Experience in the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law at the University of Dundee. Daniel’s teaching and research interests include 18th-century literature and Romanticism, Scottish literature, the Gothic, authorship and adaptation studies, visual culture, creative practice and cultural tourism. Authors of specific interest include Jonathan Swift, Daniel Defoe, Jane Austen, Walter Scott, Lord Byron, and Mary Shelley, but he has published on literature from the 17th to the 21st centuries.As a General Editor of The Oxford Complete Works of Mary Shelley (with Sharon Ruston) he is currently leading an international team of scholars on behalf of Oxford University Press. This longterm project presents significant opportunities for further scholarship, public engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration. With Nick Groom and Maisha Wester he edits the Bloomsbury series Gothic Legacies. Daniel regularly writes articles for print and online media. He has also appeared in, and been a consultant for, documentaries for the BBC and other international outlets. Daniel also serves on the steering group of The Scottish Arts and Humanities Alliance (SAHA) and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the English Association.He is the author of Frankenstein Retold (Bloomsbury), Gulliver’s Afterlives (Bloomsbury), Walter Scott and Short Fiction (Edinburgh UP), Reading Swift’s Poetry (Cambridge UP), and Thomas Chatterton and Neglected Genius, 17••••30 (Palgrave Macmillan), as well as dozens of book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. He has also edited or co-edited multiple books, including The Oxford Handbook of Mary Shelley (Oxford UP), Shelley’s Gothic Tales (Penguin Classics), Scottish Poetry, 17••••30 (Oxford World’s Classics), The Cambridge Companion to Gulliver’s Travels (Cambridge UP), Austen After 200 (Palgrave Macmillan), The Afterlives of Eighteenth-Century Fiction (Cambridge UP), and Women’s Life Writing, 17••••50 (Palgrave MacMillan).Daniel’s research on Frankenstein, and particularly Mary Shelley’s connections with Scotland, has informed many collaborative outputs and public engagement activities, including books, study guides, documentaries, film adaptations, touring plays, comics, international festivals, and an open access “Dundee Edition”.
