I hold a joint teaching and research post in the Department of Computing at the University of Dundee. My primary lecturing commitments are as part of the MSc in Educational Assistive Technology (MSc EduAT) at University of Dundee. I lecture on areas such as assessment for assistive technology, alternative computer access, human-computer interaction and the use of specialist and mainstream devices in assistive technology. The MSc EduAT teaches students the fundamentals of assistive technology assessment, provision and support, alongside vital concepts in disability, specialist education and professional competence. The programme seeks to professionalise the role of the Assistive Technologist and to foreground this vital skillset.I also have an active research agenda. My primary research areas are eye-gaze technology, the use of vision as a communication and control modality, teaching AT and access systems, and the contribution of specialist assistive technologist roles to the support of AT users. I am part of several research groups and collaborations, both within University of Dundee and with other institutions and commercial partners.
