ABOUT EIRINI MAVRITSAKI

I currently work in Birmingham City University as Professor of Cognitive Psychology and Faculty Research Strategy Deputy and Research Development Framework Lead. I am also Honorary Lecturer in The University of Birmingham and Visiting Researcher in The University of Cambridge. Prior to my role in the Faculty, I was Director of Research for the School of Social Sciences. Also prior to my position in Birmingham City University, I worked in University of Oxford as postdoctoral research fellow and four years as Visiting Academic, I also worked for six years in The University of Birmingham as a postdoctoral researcher and one and half year as a temporary lecturer. My research interests lie in visual cognition and learning using computational modelling, behavioural studies and data from fMRI and EEG. Extending this I am interested to use computational modelling as a tool to bridge knowledge from different disciplines and different methodologies to progress research developments and to use the developed models to predict healthy and unhealthy behaviour (for example response to medication etc). Currently most research projects I am working on are in the area of visual attention; attentional processes in ADHD, decision making, cross-cultural differences in cognition, Azheimer’s and Parkinson’s differentiation in attention. My research was awarded the BPS Cognition Section Prize in 2012.
