As a Research Intern, I contribute to designing, constructing, and validating workflows using lab automation equipment to optimize high-throughput biological research. My work involves developing protocols for microbial phenotypic screening, adaptive laboratory evolution, DNA extraction, and NGS sequencing using lab automation robots. I design validation experiments to ensure assay accuracy, explore novel automation applications in anaerobic environments, and create standard operating procedures to enhance reproducibility. Additionally, I assist with lab organization, media preparation, and reagent management. Under the guidance of my supervisor and GLBRC co-investigators, I am also developing an independent research project focused on assay design solutions for BioDesign technical challenges. This experience strengthens my expertise in laboratory automation, workflow optimization, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
