As a dedicated Safety Engineer at Larsen & Toubro (L&T), I have been entrusted with ensuring safe execution of activities at the Agartala Project, executed under Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). The project involved critical operations, including new commissioning, reconversion, and underground (UG) cabling works, which demanded high safety vigilance and strategic planning.I played a proactive role in preparing and implementing the project-specific EHS Management Plan, conducting HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment), and managing Permit-to-Work (PTW) for high-risk jobs like working at height, underground trenching, cable pulling, confined space work, and shutdown operations. Strict compliance with PPE usage, method statements, and site safety procedures was ensured across all shifts.Special focus was placed on underground work safety, where I led risk assessments for excavation, ensured shoring and barricading, supervised safe cable laying, and coordinated with utility departments to revent underground clashes or incidents.In parallel, I ensured comprehensive EHS documentation including:Daily toolbox talksNear-miss and incident reportsSite audits and inspection recordsMonthly EHS performance dashboardsStatutory compliance reports (BOCW, Factories Act, etc.)I actively conducted training programs, emergency mock drills, and behavioral safety engagements to strengthen site safety culture. Working closely with execution and QA/QC teams, I integrated quality assurance with safety practices, supporting smooth commissioning and safe handovers.The project proudly achieved a Zero Harm record, and I was awarded an Appreciation Certificate by the client, TSECL, for my consistent performance and dedication to safety excellence.Safety, to me, is not just a function—it’s a culture of ownership, anticipation, and continuous improvement. I’m proud to contribute to the mission of Zero Harm while representing L&T’s strong safety legacy.
