Head hunted to lead the award-winning team at East Anglia’s prime shopping destination sq.ft across 91 units) with annual footfall of 15m, delivering real growth in net property income (circa £15m) every year by being a destination where customers smile, tenants flourish and the whole team are happy.• Directly accountable for the delivery of a service charge budget of £4.7m and a car park business generating £1.8m profit• Overseeing the 80+ Operations, Marketing, Security, Cleaning, Customer Services and Liaison, Safety, Building Maintenance and Business Administration teams and outsourced car park operations team• Responsible for every aspect of the Shopping Centre operation and our reputation within the community• Annual KPIs set across all departments and aligned to personal targets across the team• Most recently (2020) have successfully led the business through the impacts of the administration of intu Properties plc, the migration to new Asset and Property Managers and the Covid-19 pandemic. From this crisis the opportunity arose to reduce the operational budget by 25% through fundamentally changing our ways of working leading to material reductions in cost and, regrettably, the loss of 29% of the team.

ABOUT PAUL MCCARTHY
I am currently working at Director level within the Shopping Centre industry; the commercial and operational leader of a business charged with delivering results, leading people, managing relationships and having overall responsibility of the brand and the asset. My success comes from a collaborative leadership style which has evolved with experience across multiple business disciplines and allows me to get the very best from my own teams as well as contracted resource, whilst aligning to the needs of internal and external stakeholders and other interested parties. Throughout my career I have worked in complex matrix organisations, reporting into multiple Directors and Committees delivering on strategic goals, operational transformation, projects and business change across the organisation.I am also the President of the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce and sit on the Board of the Norwich Business Improvement District, giving me the opportunity to support and collaborate with political, social, cultural and business leaders across our community.
