Pierre van der Merwe is a leader in high-performance technical operations, with specific expertise in the sustainable energy market. He is the Director of VEIC\'s Data and Technical Services Division, comprising 4 groups: Evaluation, Measurement, and Verification; Reporting and Analytics; Software Product Development; and Business Solutions. Pierre collaboratively engages client and regulatory evaluators in rigorous verification processes. He has concluded nearly 20 annual energy savings verification processes, consistently achieving average realization rates above 95%. Pierre is also responsible for the integrity of statewide and regional Technical Reference Manuals; energy analysis tools for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential applications; custom data analytics for large energy users and other activity related to technical and regulatory evaluation and verification of energy efficiency and renewable energy savings claims. Among the performance benchmarks VEIC tracks are green jobs created through sustainable energy implementation; Pierre monitors this work monthly. His work is also critical for VEIC\'s three utility scale energy efficiency programs’ successful participation in regional transmission organizations’ capacity markets. He has 20 years’ experience as an engineering professional, having begun his career serving the industrial market at the plant level. He holds degrees in both industrial engineering and manufacturing technology. He leads a team of 40 professionals in VEIC\'s four Data and Technical Services groups. In addition to building the technical resources for custom work in the commercial market, he also assists in program design for prescriptive energy efficiency measures.
