Design and construct rover for international Mars Rover competition, including the chassis, electrical enclosure, and rocker-bogie wheel suspension system- Conduct extensive research on rocker-bogie suspension system designs to reduce rover vibrations, and implement techniques such as the addition of springs, electromagnets, rotary speed limiters, or redesigning the current rocker-bogie system- Collaborate with professors, teammates, and other researchers to develop solutions to complicated problems, enhancing rover performance and expanding team outreach- Represented the team in the international competition along with 15 team members from various subteams- Placed 21st out of 102 teams in 2024

ABOUT PJ JELEN
I\'m a Junior at Binghamton University\'s Watson College of Engineering and Applied Sciences studying Mechanical Engineering. I\'m currently a member of the Binghamton University Rover Team and working with a large group to build a Mars rover for the URC competition. I\'m also a researcher and peer mentor in Binghamton\'s First-year Research Immersion Program (FRI) in the Clean Energy stream. I worked with a group of three other students to research how molecules and atoms interact with each other, how radicals (electrons that are not paired on their orbital) form, and how they can be used for more efficient and cheaper spin filtering. Now, I work with a larger group to help the current program members with their research and ensure safety in and out of the lab. I plan to continue studying and working in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense fields.
