ABOUT PHIL HAIGH

I am a sports reporter at Metro.co.uk, specialising in snooker and darts, but also covering football, boxing and MMA. I also write SEO sports content having held senior roles in this field. News writing, interviews, features, reports, live blogs and social media work is involved in the role. Before joining Metro.co.uk, I had sports writing roles, either full-time, freelance or work experience at Eurosport, Bleacher Report, The Guardian and numerous sports betting websites, most notably Betway. Formerly SEO Editor at Metro.co.uk, leading the search-based content produced across the site and ensuring all pages and articles are optimised in terms of SEO. This involved- Monitoring search trends and commissioning or personally writing articles based on the research - Optimising all articles written across the site - Ensuring all pages on the site are SEO optimised - Searching for breaking news across social/aggregation platforms that will do well for search traffic - Monitoring and reporting search traffic to the site - Creating angles to cover existing stories with a focus on search - Managing the team of SEO Reporters and SEO Content Executives Metro.co.uk saw record search traffic figures whilst I was in the role of UK SEO Editor. I am also experienced in social media management having handled the output for a range of betting affiliate sites and other organisations with followers in the hundreds of thousands. Elsewhere I have also held roles in digital marketing in the corporate world which allows me to write and produce content of an appropriate style away from my journalistic background.
