WORK HISTORY
Senior Lifestyle Reporter @Metro.Co.Uk
As Metro’s Senior Lifestyle Reporter and Specialist Food Writer, I cover the latest food and drink trends, new restaurant openings, and consumer news. I also write features more generally about women\'s issues, relationships, travel and money, run the What’s Cooking? series and edit the weekly Drink Up column. In addition to this, the position involves assisting the Lifestyle Editor, when required, with editing content, making content plans, scheduling posts, attending editorial conferences, as well as generally ensuring the smooth running of the lifestyle team (a team of seven). My biggest skills in this role include generating unique content ideas appropriate for Metro’s audience (as well as targeting a wider range of people), crafting attention grabbing headlines with angles different from other publications, interviewing and writing engaging stories, and organisation.

ABOUT COURTNEY POCHIN
As a Senior Lifestyle Reporter and Specialist Food Writer at Metro, I focus predominantly on food and drink content, covering the latest restaurant openings and food industry trends, as well as curating reviews and product taste tests for the website, paper, and The Slice newsletter. In May 2025 I launched Metro\'s fortnightly food series, What\'s Cooking, where we go behind the scenes in the nation\'s kitchens to find out what people really eat at home. Guests so far have included Jamie Oliver, Katherine Ryan, and Nick Grimshaw. My role at Metro also involves covering a range of other lifestyle topics, including women\'s issues, sex and relationships, travel, money, fashion and health, finding innovative ways to tackle important, topical conversations and create stories people care about and want to share. Previously, I worked as Lifestyle Editor for The Mirror, leading a team of junior writers and helping to grow the publication\'s online audience, and while at the Eastern Daily Press in Norfolk, I reviewed local restaurants.
