I received my Ph.D. degree from Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany, in 2009 and my M.Sc. degree from University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany, in 2005. From to 2002 I was with Fraunhofer Institute for Beam and Material Technologies, Dresden, Germany where I developed augmented and virtual reality based control systems. From 2002 to 2005 I was with IBM Deutschland Entwicklung GmbH, Böblingen, Germany. In June 2005, I joined the Vodafone Chair of Prof. Gerhard Fettweis at Technische Universität Dresden and focused on different aspects of relaying in the context of mobile communications systems. I was also a leading member of the organizing team of ICC 2009, prepared multiple successful EU FP6 and FP7 proposals, and was actively contributing to the European research project WINNER since 2005 as task leader. Since May 2015, I am a member of the Radio Access Architecture research group at Nokia Bell Labs, Munich, Germany, where I have been coordinating the European H2020 project 5G-NORMA, the German BMBF project TACNET 4.0, and the 5G Network Slicing testbed deployed at Hamburg Harbour. I have been further involved in several EU projects (e.g. FP7 iJOIN as Technical Manager), standardization (e.g. 3GPP RAN2), and business unit projects. Currently, I am serving as member of VDE ITG Expert Committee Information and System Theory (VDE ITG Fachausschuss Informations- und Kommunikationstheorie). I have been member of ComSoc GITC, Online GreenComm Steering Committee, ComSoc EMEA Board, and Executive Editor of Transactions of Wireless Communications. I further supported several conferences, e.g. ICC 2009 and VTC Spring 2013 (TPC Chair), I published more than 80 scientific publications, books, book chapters, and more than 50 patents and patent applications.
