ABOUT PETER R. GATHJE

As of January of 2024, I have returned to teaching full time and joined the faculty at LeMoyne Owen College. I will teach in the area of Religion. My areas of academic interest include CHRISTIAN ETHICS, Biblical studies, social justice, hospitality with persons on the margins, spirituality and spiritual formation. I will continue my work at Manna House offering hospitality to persons on the streets and others in poverty. I will continue to write my Radical Hospitality blog, and be a regular contributor to the Open Door Community\'s newspaper,\"Hospitality.\" Freed from administration, I will also have more time to engage in local community activism.Prior to this position at LeMoyne Owen, I served as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Memphis Theological Seminary where I worked with faculty on academic programs and with the Director of Admissions, Director of Financial Aid, Director of the Library, Director of Student Services, Director of IT, Director of Program of Alternative Studies, Registrar, Associate Dean of Doctoral Students and Associate Dean of Academic Assessment and Advising. As Professor of Christian Ethics at Memphis Theological Seminary my areas of focus included state violence, poverty/economics, virtue ethics. I also enjoyed teaching students in the required first year course,\"Introduction to Theological Studies for Ministry.\"
