ABOUT PETER HAWKES

Principal Counsel for Worldwide Ops Construction and EU Real Estate at Amazon.I lead a team of attorneys / legal professionals advising and supporting multiple customers (including Global Customer Fulfillment, Amazon Logistics, Amazon Transportation Services, GSF and Amazon Air), on development / expansion and management of Amazon’s Operations network. In addition to supporting the team on transactional issues, I provide strategic support and advice to business leadership on entitlements and permitting, build-to-suit development leases, development funding agreements, land acquisitions & assembly, and construction contracts and disputes. I am also responsible for setting and monitoring external counsel budget for Ops Real Estate. I have developed and executed simplification projects across Real Estate and Construction workstreams to enable scalable work and increased self-service for business teams on high-volume repeatable contracts.Prior to joining Amazon, I worked in the UK and Middle East advising on real estate development, regeneration and construction projects. I was seconded to Tourism Development and Investment Company PJSC (TDIC) an Abu Dhabi government-owned development company between 2013 and 2016 where I advised on the structuring and delivery of major projects including the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum. My experience includes advising on public private partnership projects, infrastructure and utilities contracts, international construction contracts and associated professional team appointments. I have also advised on investment acquisitions and disposals, asset management, concession agreements and hotel management agreements
