ABOUT PAUL CARCONE

I am a widely experienced and highly adaptable Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) and MBA serving as an officer in the British Army - but am open to approaches for transition into my \'second career\'. I am currently the Chief of Staff to the military specialist finance directorate in the Army Headquarters’ Strategic Centre following an out-of-specialist role employed in a role leading on Conduct and Professional Standards. This post was assumed having completed a post as the Chief Finance and HR Officer in the NATO Battlegroup in Estonia. Prior to that, I was employed in a senior finance role at the strategic apex of the British Army (£8bn annual budget) having completed posts as Head of Finance and Resources at a Divisional HQ people) and the Army’s Regional HR Director in the North West of England people). Extra-murally, in addition to serving on the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants\' Professional Standards Committee, I have a senior role in The Scout Association and have also recently set up a highly successful community running group with over 600 members. I also have commercial experience having been invited to take on Finance Director roles at two failing children’s nurseries, both of which I salvaged. As the winner of the Government Finance Profession ‘Mentor of the Year Award’ in 2011 and the PQ Accountant Magazine ‘Boss of the Year’ in 2012 (short listed in 2011), I am also engaged in mentoring services to under-performing male pupils at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College having been a Governor there for several years. In terms of other awards, I won the Ministry of Defence Most Improved Department of the Year for implementing a bespoke Financial Planning and Analysis (FP & A) in the 3rd(UK) Division and was a Henley (Business School) Challenge Finalist for the two consecutive years in which I was undertaking my MBA. As an augmentation to my FCMA and MBA, I am a PRINCE2 Practitioner and have recently completed my scholarship on Cranfield University MSc Strategic Leadership programme. Finally, I am very happily married to Nicola and have one child, Archibald (10).
