ABOUT PAUL WALTHAM
I have been involved in education since 2006. I started teaching physical education in secondary schools in 2006 during my graduate teacher placement at Kelvin Hall School in Hull, earning Qualified Teacher Status in 2007. I then started teaching both further and higher education (HE) at North Lindsey College in 2007, gradually becoming solely involved in HE in 2009 and teaching across Business Studies, Education and Sport. I was the HE Programmes Leader for Police and Sport programmes at Bishop Burton College delivering programmes validated by the University of Hull from November 2013 - February 2016. After that role, I moved into a HE Quality role at Hull College and also attained Senior Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy/Advance HE. In 2018, I became the Head of HE Quality and Registry within the same college which is a role I really enjoyed, working closer with students and the quality assurance of our HE provision. Due to the successes I had in this role, I was appointed the Director of HE in October 2020. In the summer of 2021, I was appointed the Head of Registry at the University of Hull leading the Registry, Scheduling, Academic Records, Fees Collection, Complaints and Conduct teams. In March 2023, I started with Advance HE. I work with the Charters Team, specifically looking at the assessment procedures and feedback quality on both the Athena Swan Charter and the Race Equality Charter.
