ABOUT PAUL SUNSHINE

Paul D. Sunshine is a Partner in the Firm’s Wilmington, Delaware office and a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience guiding clients through complex, high-stakes litigation. He concentrates his practice in construction defect, professional liability, general liability, and trucking and transportation litigation. Paul is also a highly respected mediator and arbitrator.Known for his trial-ready approach, Paul is adept at early stage evaluation of client needs while also developing litigation strategies. He works closely with clients to understand the desired business objectives, acceptable risk tolerance, and the spectrum of outcomes. From there, Paul works closely with his clients to develop strategic, cost effective litigation plans designed to position his clients for success and advising resolution tactics, whether through alternative dispute resolution or trial.Paul represents regional, national, and international clients throughout all phases of litigation in Delaware and Maryland, including proceedings in State and Federal courts. His deep industry knowledge and practical judgment allow him to efficiently manage complex disputes while minimizing disruption to client operations. Paul’s clients value his ability to align legal strategy with business realities and deliver results that protect both their interests and their reputation.In addition to his advocacy work, Paul is a certified Mediator and approved Arbitrator for the Delaware Superior Court and is frequently selected by his fellow attorneys to aid in resolution of challenging and multifaceted disputes. His reputation for pragmatism, preparation, and insight has also led to his appointment as Special Master to the Delaware Family Court and membership in the Richard S. Rodney Inns of Court.A committed leader in the legal community, Paul has served as an adjunct professor at the Delaware Technical and Community College and Wilmington University and regularly contributes to the development of future advocates as a judge for Delaware Law School moot court competitions. He also serves as a Presiding Judge in the Annual Delaware High School Mock Trial Competition. He began his legal career clerking for the Honorable Vincent A. Bifferato of the Delaware Superior Court.Outside the office, Paul enjoys offshore sailboat racing, following Formula 1, pickleball, and spending time at the Delaware beaches, often while cheering on Philadelphia sports teams.
