ABOUT PAUL GALDAS

I am Professor of Men’s Health at the University of York and Chair of England’s National Men’s Health Academic Network. I advise the Department of Health and Social Care and provide academic leadership for England’s first Men’s Health Strategy. My work focuses on reducing inequalities in men’s health by translating behavioural science and gender theory into practical, scalable system change. The frameworks I’ve developed now inform national and international approaches to engaging men across health, workplace, and community settings.Over the past two decades I’ve led research and system wide programmes spanning men’s mental health, workplace wellbeing, and long term conditions, supported by National Institute for Health and Care Research and Movember. This work bridges evidence, policy, and implementation, with a strong focus on what works in real world systems.I also chair the York and North Yorkshire Men’s Mental Health Taskforce, leading a regional investment programme connecting employers, communities, and services to address persistent inequalities. Alongside this, I advise organisations in the UK and internationally on building gender responsive, evidence based approaches across health and wellbeing systems.I began my career as a Registered Nurse in Coronary Care (City Hospital, Birmingham; St James’s Hospital, Leeds). That grounding in clinical practice continues to shape how I work, keeping my focus on applied evidence and impact.
