Employed as a Safety Officer for Stena Drilling responsible for all HSE requirements of Stena rigs. Was employed to Stena Tay positioned in West Africa off the coast of Nigeria now currently based on the worlds first Artic class Drilling vessel the Stena IceMax as one of the Senior Safety Officers. Role of the Safety Officer was one of advise, guidance and training on all aspects of HSE. Day to day role required ensuring the rig and crew ran in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS), chaired all safety meetings, 70% of the SO’s time is spent out on deck assisting/training crew members in Risk Assessments, Tool Box Talks etc, take a leading role in any incident/accident investigations that occurred, Audit, run and maintain the vessels ISO 14001 accreditation, carry out Audits on the vessels Procedures and Safety Systems and report back to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM).
