ABOUT PATRICK BOLTE

Experienced evaluator of humanitarian and development programmes dedicated to supporting practitioners in their efforts to reinforce resilience across South & South-East Asia. Motivated to reduce risk and suffering around the world, I am a conscientious team-worker and thorough analyst of humanitarian and development efforts to reinforce resilience. A political scientist by training, I have been focussing on South & South-East Asia over the past 20 years. Assisting practitioners to translate the concept of resilience into practice is my mission — aiming to contribute to better conditions and prospects of communities across the region. I created the resilience radar as a practical tool to measure community resilience. In 110 consultancies (evaluations, baseline studies and research projects), I have applied excellent research and writing skills to this end. I deliver reports that are rigorously researched and professionally presented. With my expertise in disaster risk reduction (DRR), livelihoods, adaptation to climate change (CCA) and nature-based solutions (NbS), I feel fortunate to have made a positive difference to clients’ programming. I enjoy networking and joint problem-solving, and take pride in delivering to the highest standard. I love learning from research and practice, and helped develop the Oxford DRR Summer School to enable such exchange.Key expertise:* Programme evaluations* Baseline studies and needs assessments* Impact and cost-benefit analysis* Project design, M&E systems* Disaster risk management* Climate change adaptation* Nature-based solutions* Risk communication
