I am a forensic ecologist, botanist, and palynologist and have worked on over 250 criminal cases in the UK. Plants and fungi provide excellent trace evidence, and can be used for estimating timing of events eg body deposition, and post mortem interval. I am an experienced expert witness for the prosecution and defence in criminal cases. I specialise in cold case studies.I set up and coordinated an M.Sc. in Forensic Archaeological Science at University College London, and have lectured extensively in Britain and overseas. For example, on various M.Sc. courses in forensic science at the Universities of Strathclyde, Dundee, King\'s College London, Jill Dando Instiitute, and Cranfield University, Bournemouth, and UWE, as well as the Universities of Tennessee & Syracuse, and the Nederlands Forensic Institute. I have presented in NZ, Australia, and many European countries. I continue to research and publish, and regularly present my work at international conferences. Southampton University (Visiting Professor); University of Aberdeen (Hon. Research Fellow);The Linnean Society (Fellow), Royal Society of Biology (Fellow), Chartered Society for Forensic Science (Fellow), Royal Botanic Garden, Kew (Research Associate). I was awarded a D.Sc. hc for forensic science. I am a vetted member of the Expert Witness Register & listed on the National Expert Witness Agency.Routine work involves: Demonstrating contact between objects, people, and places (trace evidence). Estimating deposition times of bodies and other objects. Estimating time since death Gut content and faecal analysis Locating hidden buried and deposited human remains and other objects. Differentiating between kill sites and depositions sites. Finding offender pathways and timing events. Identifying organic particulates and unknown microscopic objects. Describing places through micro- and macro-remains analysis of exhibits Plant identification (seeds, flowers, leaves, and other plant parts)

I have worked with every police force in England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. I am an experienced expert witness for both the prosecution and defence, and a registered expert with the NCA.
