ABOUT PATRICIA MARQUEZ
I was born and raised in Venezuela, where I began my academic career and discovered a passion for building institutions that matter. After more than a decade in academic and administrative leadership in Caracas, I moved to San Diego with my family in 2007 in response to rising violence and deep socio-political polarization. That experience profoundly shaped how I understand the relationship among business, social change, and peacebuilding.For more than 30 years, my research and teaching have focused on the intersection of business and society, exploring how companies, universities, and leaders can act as agents of peace, justice, and meaningful social change. I am motivated by building bridges: across disciplines, across sectors, and between ideas and action. Throughout my career, I have launched and led innovative programs that enable students and faculty to engage the world’s most pressing challenges, not only through rigorous analysis but through designing solutions and transforming ideas into sustainable, impact-driven initiatives.I am an engaged scholar and institution builder committed to advancing innovation in the service of human dignity and shared prosperity.
