In 2010 I implemented new procedures for the patient billing of NSM’S outstanding DME balances. Obtained a new outside collection agency and negotiated a rate for the non-collectable accounts, and act as liaison, between NSM and Regional Recovery. Work daily self-pay orders -Performing pre-billing edits to confirm the accuracy of charges, dates of service, primary payers, secondary payers, and waivers obtained to bill the members. Confirm if payment was collected or needs to be billed to the patient. Patient follow-up includes many steps. Review claims to ensure claims are compliant with the proper requirements. Performing account follow-up to determine accuracy of the reimbursement amounts (short pays, credit balances, etc.) Complete a manual process to bill patient invoices, 1st,2nd, 3rd, a Final Notices. Patient contact via phone /taking payment in full or setting payment plan either monthly statement or recurring billing to credit card. Place alerts on patients that do not comply with payments of coinsurance, deductibles, or any monies due on orders. Do cash reapplications for any monies posted to the incorrect orders before sending to collections. Analyzing, reviewing and taking the appropriate actions on delinquent accounts according to established policies, procedures and standards. Many attempts via phone and mail to collect any open balances before sending to a third party for collections. Identify and providing a detailed accounting of delinquent self-pay accounts for third party collection,Submitting all collection accounts for approval for write off to collections or as uncollectable. Perform balance write offs for the accounts that all collection efforts have been exhausted.Act as back-up in cash posting, MIR coordinator, Insurance billing for commercial & Medicare Rental billing.
