ABOUT PAOLO GANDOLFO
In my career I filled several different roles with one common thread, to be a trusted, reliable technical advisor while dealing with customers or business partners. I’m now in charge of being the primary technical interface towards assigned financial customer for ANY IBM technology needs and to promote innovation especially in areas like data & AI, application modernization and business automation. This role requires a multidisciplinary approach that for me is based on a diversified background of competencies that I cloud build over the 25 years of experience in technology and consultancy. I\'m present in any sales stages of an opportunity, providing customer and market insights, building and consolidating trust with the client, business partner and the extended IBM teams. Becoming a trusted advisor is not only related to “be an expert” but to be able to guide, to explain, to speak the customer language. To know its processes, to be present during the good and the bad times. It all started when I joined Accenture where I spent 6 tough, complex, long years. It was clear to me the importance of accuracy while preparing business / technical documents, presentations or public speaking events. I find these hard and soft skills helped me a lot on several engagements where technical expertise had to go with the ability to harmonize all those different souls that naturally are expressed within a group of people working for the same goal but with heterogeneous backgrounds. In my role, I can never be still. Being constantly up-to-date requires a significant effort in time as well an appropriate mindset, open to adopt changes. Some asks me how I feel out of my comfort zone since I spend there 90% of my time. Well, the best way to answer is to link the answer with what I do in my personal life. I’m a marathon runner. This means to always put myself in the condition to challenge me, to suffer, to plan, to train whatever the weather is. I love being out of my comfort zone, it is where you can make the difference, where with the right motivation I can overcome incredible obstacles. It is where I can get the best achievements, those that make the journey worth it.
