ABOUT PIETRO ANTONIO CICALESE
I am a Biomedical Engineering PhD candidate working in Dr. Hien Van Nguyen\'s and Dr. Chandra Mohan\'s labs. Our work revolves around the development of novel Computer Vision architectures and pipelines that yield reproducible assessments of various diseases in nephro histopathology and radiography data. My personal research interest can be described as investigating the role of intelligent design in Deep Learning, and how \"intelligence breeds intelligence.\" My recent research interests include the intersection of Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing, Attention nets, and Capsule nets, to name a few. I enjoy applying my own creative problem solving abilities to these difficult problems, and pride myself for thinking \"outside of the box.\" I also have extensive experience as a student leader, and believe that my experiences have helped me become the independent (and critical) thinker that I am today.
