ABOUT OMAR L.
Omar is a Managing Consultant within IBM’s Digital Product Engineering practice. He has been a critical player in multiple transformation projects within the Insurance, Transportation, and Manufacturing industries. His unique background in engineering and finance allows him to breakdown and solve complex problems with a multi-disciplinary and data driven approach. Within the first 9 months at IBM, Omar was awarded the IBM Consulting Associate Rock Star award in Q2 2021, given to 11 other Associates across all of North and South America, in recognition of his leadership, innovation, and impact at IBM. Omar is originally from Mexico. He also lived in Costa Rica for 2 years before moving back to Canada by himself to finish Grade 11 and Grade 12. During his teen years, Omar was a competitive swimmer accruing many accolades which include finishing 4th at Mexican Nationals along with breaking a 10 year standing Costa Rican age group record which was previously held by a Costa Rican Olympic swimmer. After a series of shoulder injuries, Omar still went back to the sport and won 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals at high school provincial swimming competitions in Canada. Outside of work, Omar can be seen continously learning through taking courses, reading books, and discussing philosophy with like-minded individuals. He is passionate about the Charlie Munger multi-disciplinary approach to life and enjoys a good workout whether it is in the pool or the weight room. Omar highly values honesty, integrity, rationality, loyalty, discipline, and life-long learning.
