ABOUT OLIVIA PLUNKETT
I’m an aspiring public relations professional studying at the Hussman School of Journalism at UNC Chapel Hill, one of the nation’s top journalism and media schools. I’m passionate about storytelling, strategic communications, marketing, media and business ethics, and corporate social responsibility.Alongside my PR studies, I’m pursuing a minor in Creative Writing, which has strengthened my communication skills and sharpened my ability to think with a creative, narrative-driven mindset. Through experiences in government, nonprofit, and small business settings, I’ve seen firsthand how communication strategies must adapt across audiences, industries, and platforms. Those experiences sparked my interest in working for a global agency or in corporate communications, where I can apply my skills on a broader scale. Whether I’m creating digital content, crafting written materials, or conducting engagement research, I bring curiosity, creativity, and purpose to everything I do.My approach to public relations is deeply shaped by a global perspective. After growing up in a Spanish immersion program and studying abroad at the world-renowned London School of Economics, I have developed a strong sense of adaptability, curiosity, and resilience. This upcoming semester, I will continue building on that foundation while working in Rome through an international professional program, further strengthening my cross-cultural communication skills and global outlook. Together, these experiences inform how I approach storytelling, strategy, and collaboration — and they motivate me to thrive in dynamic, ever changing and fast-paced environments.
