ABOUT OLIVER COONEY
University of Cambridge graduate with a passion for language and education. With a background in teaching and university outreach, I have worked as a tutor, summer school advisor, and mentor for international students and students from underprivileged backgrounds. This provided hands-on experience in creating inclusive, engaging learning environments and working to elevate goals and achievements. Research interests lie in syntax, semantics and pragmatics, having authored papers on the linguistics of lying (focusing on the role of presupposition in deception) and the structure of negative concord in dialects of English (focusing on the interface between sentence structure and meaning). I received a First Class Distinction for my undergraduate dissertation in experimental pragmatics and hold a Master\'s degree for my work on dialect syntax.
